Knowledge Base (Jnana Yoga)

As one of our four pillars here at BTGY is Knowing (jnana), we wish to provide all practitioners with the resources we find valuable for the development of one's spiritual practice. The Path to Union through Knowledge, or Jnana Yoga, is one of the four paths of spiritual transformation documented in the ancient texts. At BTGY, we wish to create a synthesis of all four paths. We hope this list of resources provides value to you on your path.

While our processes and methods have evolved over time and are derived from multiple sources and systems, the BTGY school's core philosophy is this: it's not WHAT we practice, it's HOW. If there is one place to start in advancing one's personal practice, we believe that it starts in the simple space of intention.

Being a results-oriented platform for spiritual growth, we have time-tested various yogic disciplines over 5 years of self-initiated home practice. There have been many influential teachers along the way that have supported this refinement. Some of the most influential have been named below.

Lineage: Where do our teachings come from?

Timuralai Krishnamacharya

Tirumalai Krishnamacharya

T. Krishnamacharya (TK) is known as the "Father of Modern Yoga." Not only because he restored the traditional Hatha Yoga practices in southern India, but also many of his students were the propagators of yoga to the West in the mid-1900s. BTGY practices apply the basic principles that Krishnamacharya brought forth in our Hatha Yoga practice. Read more about TK here.

Paramahansa Yogananda

Yogananda brought Kriya Yoga to the United States in 1920, introducing spinal breathing pranayama, which is a key practice BTGY instills. We combine both the practices of Hatha Yoga from TK and spinal breathing from Yogananda to create a synthesized approach at spiritual transformation. Read more about Yogananda here.

Inner Vision Yoga

This Chandler-based yoga school was the first place that Grant started practicing, and where he completed his second 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training back in late 2015.

The first official training that Grant underwent was at a place called 'The Sanctuary' in Cabuya, Costa Rica, which was where he immersed himself for 3 weeks for a 200 hour training in 2015. Grant credits much of his overall development to his teachers Liz Lindh and Naganath, who run retreats and training programs year round. Since his initial immersion, he has been back several times for additional practice, self-study, assistant teaching, and on-going development.
